The workshop for standardization officials in French-speaking African countries was organized virtually recently, which welcomed 53 standardization officials from seven African countries including Benin, Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritius, Rwanda, Tunisia and Niger.

Mr. Cui Gang, Director-General of Standards Innovative Management Department, SAMR, and Mr. Chen Hongjun, Deputy Director-General of Standards Technical Management Department, SAMR, gave lectures on topics such as the status quo of standardization and agricultural biosafety standardization in China. Dr. Li Yubing, Deputy Director-General of Standards Innovative Management Department, SAMR, addressed the closing ceremony of the workshop.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, all standardization training workshops have taken the online mode since the start of 2021, and the class time was arranged according to the time difference in these African countries. The workshop was highly affirmed by the trainees. They wished to better use the standardization tool to provide support for technical development, and make the products made in Africa more competitive in the international market.

The workshop has laid a foundation for the communication and cooperation between China and African countries in standardization, which has also witnessed their long-lasting friendship.
