BRICS Workshop on Traditional Medicine Standardization Held

The workshop on traditional medicine standardization of the BRICS countries was held in hybrid form on July 7, 2022, welcoming more than 30 participants, including experts from the national standardization bodies and experts and scholars in the area of traditional medicine in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. 
 
During the meeting, Shen Yuandong, Chair of ISO/TC 249, Traditional Chinese medicine, shared the routes, development patterns and other aspects of the international standardization on traditional medicine, providing train of thought on participating in international standardization activities on the traditional Chinese medicine. 
 
Experts and representatives from the BRICS countries made exchanges on the status quo and development experience of traditional medicine standardization in each country, and discussed how to better play the role of standardization in bridging the tradition of medicine and modern quality requirements. 
 
The event is one of a series of activities on standardization communication and cooperation and also a part of the ministerial meeting on standardization cooperation of the BRICS countries this year. Taking the opportunity of China as the BRICS Chair of 2022, the meeting, through communications and dialogues in the field of international TM standardization, is aimed at seeking more cooperation, and contributing to the construction of international standardization system on traditional medicine.
