Roadmaps for Today and Tomorrow

As the saying goes, "a goal without a plan is just a wish." A good plan shows the final destination and usually the best way to go there.

The May/June issue presents both China's standardization work plan this year and the tasks in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), clearly demonstrating the standardization roadmaps.

The SPOTLIGHT column focuses on the "Two Sessions", the most significant annual meetings in China which refer to the meetings of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and introduces the standardization tasks in 2021-2025. In addition, you can hear the voices from deputies to the NPC and members of the CPPCC National Committee to get to know their ideas and proposals on how to make standards play a bigger role in facilitating technology and innovation.

Besides describing the long-term plan for standardization, the issue takes a bird's eye view of the standardization work plan this year, which was released by Standardization Administration of China (SAC) in early April. It also presents the Legislative Work Plan for 2021, released by State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) in the same month.

In the RESEARCH & EXPLORATION column, the paper written by Li Peilu from Beijing Institute of Technology studies the representation of residual stress symbols in technical product documentation.
