ISO published a new standard on sustainable finance in August, to facilitate a better understanding of the key concepts in the sustainable finance system among financial regulators, banks, asset managers, investors, and researchers.
ISO/TR 32220, Sustainable finance - Basic concepts and key initiatives, provides a glossary of terms and definitions widely accepted in the world. It will be a valuable tool of global collaboration for promoting growth in the industry.
Dr. Wang Bolu from Tsinghua University, convener of the terminology group of ISO/TC 322 on sustainable finance, led the development of the technical report. CNIS, domestic counterpart of ISO/TC 322, has supported Chinese experts to participate in the work of the committee since its inception in 2018.
Chinese experts also led the development of several international standards in the industry, with the support of SAC/TC 180 on finance and SAC/TC 207 on environmental management, contributing Chinese experience and wisdom to global green, sustainable finance standardization.
