Meeting Focuses on Chinese Standardization Reform and Development

The 3rd Roundtable for Chinese Standardization Reform and Development and Symposium on Implementing the National Standardization Development Outline was held in Beijing in October, which was addressed by Dr. Tian Shihong, Vice-Minister of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and Administrator of Standardization Administration of China (SAC).


The Outline, as the first framework document on standardization released by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council since the founding of the People's Republic of China, is a milestone in the development history of the standardization undertaking in China, Dr. Tian Shihong noted.


The Outline has proposed the orientations for future standardization reform and innovation in five aspects, such as fully exerting the role of market in resource allocation to stimulate market entities' vigor in standardization activities and reinforce the application of market-led standards, promoting deepened standardization development across all sectors, enhancing the life-circle management of standards, widening the global vision for standardization development as well as improving the quality benefits of standardization through better foundation, higher efficiency and increasing benefits, he added.


The meeting, hosted by CNIS, was attended by the academicians from Chinese Academy of Engineering, counsellors of the State Council, as well as related experts and industrial representatives.
