SAC/SWG 26 on medical equipment industry and application held its inauguration meeting recently in Beijing, which was attended by Dr. Tian Shihong, Vice-Minister of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and Administrator of Standardization Administration of China (SAC). 

Dr. Tian emphasized that strengthening the standardization work of the medical equipment industry and application is of great importance to improve the level of the medical equipment industry, enhance the safety and stability of industrial chain and supply chain, and promote the cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary integrative development of medical equipment.  

He proposed suggestions on the work of SWG 26 in four aspects: planning the top-level design and key research projects in a coordinated way to strengthen the building of standards innovation system; coordinating standards innovation and industrial application to improve the development and implementation of important standards; planning the national and international platforms as a whole to promote the coordinated development of national and foreign standards; coordinating internal issues and various parties to exert the role of the working group. 

Held in hybrid forms, the meeting was attended by the representatives from SAMR, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National Health Commission and National Medical Products Administration and the members of the working group.
