2021 Qingdao Forum on International Standardization Held

The 2021 Qingdao Forum on International Standardization was held on July 27-28 in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, which was addressed by Zhang Gong, Minister of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), and Liu Jiayi, Secretary of Shandong Provincial Committee of the CPC.
Standards are the outcomes of human's civilization progress, and standardization is the effective approach to facilitate sustainable development. We shall discuss the technical cooperation on standards to drive the innovation of industries; jointly develop the system of international standards to support the global green development; share the outcomes of standards practices to create a healthy and safe future; reach a consensus on standards cooperation to promote the interconnectivity of the world, Zhang Gong stressed. 
We will carry out effective standardization cooperation, and build the bridge of interconnectivity, cooperation and friendship, making positive contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind and facilitating the global sustainable development, he added.
Top officials from ISO, IEC, ITU, FAO, CEN-CENENEC and DIN addressed the forum virtually, and more than 300 participants attended the event, including leaders of SAMR, SAC, and other ministries and commissions, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, experts and scholars from well-known research institutes and universities in China.
With the theme "Standards for Sustainable Development Goals", the event consists of one conference, four sub-forms and a series of activities. And the strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Shandong Provincial People's Government and SAC during the event.
Organized by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the SAMR, the biennial forum, previously held in 2017 and in 2019, is aimed at providing a high-end platform for the exchange and cooperation on international standards, and exploring the role of international standards in improving global governance and promoting sustainable development.
