To enhance the cyclic utilization of resources and facilitate the green development of furniture industry, SAMR (SAC) recently released two revised voluntary national standards including GB/T 35607-2024, Green product assessment—Furniture, and GB/T 26694-2024, Specification for green design assessment of furniture.
GB/T 35607-2024 specifies the requirements for green product assessment of furniture, refines the related indicators on energy and low carbon, and optimizes the requirements on resources, environment, and quality attributes.
GB/T 26694-2024 defines the terminologies and definitions in the green design of furniture, and stipulates the objectives, principles and requirements of assessment. The revision focuses on the greenization in design phase, introduces the requirements of full lifecycle assessment, and systematically considers the technical requirements for reducing resource consumption and environmental pollution in various links such as selection of raw materials, production, sales, use and recycling.
The two national standards will guide enterprises to carry out the green design, production and assessment of furniture, promote the green transformation and upgrading in the furniture field, and create a healthier and more environment-friendly household environment for consumers, which will provide important support for the actions on standards to improve equipment renewal and trade-in of consumer goods.
