Mandatory National Standard on Disposable Sanitary Products Revised

With the constantly emerging new products and materials over the years, higher hygienic requirements have been proposed for products. To better regulate the development of products, and safeguard the health of consumers, SAMR (SAC) recently released the revised mandatory national standard GB 15979-2024, Hygienic requirements for disposable sanitary products.

 

Disposable sanitary products, as a kind of daily necessities, can help users achieve the goal of cleaning and sanitation, with the characteristics of a wide variety and extensive use. Such products are in contact with human body, which can directly affect the health of people. With the continuous improvement of Chinese residents’ health habits and the increase of their awareness on safety, all sectors of society pay more attention to the hygiene and safety of disposable sanitary products.

 

Since its implementation, the standard has been widely applied in multiple fields such as sanitation, catering, industrial manufacturing and medicine, which plays an important role in ensuring the hygiene and safety of products.

 

The revision of the standard was organized by the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, which mainly includes the following five aspects: firstly, adjusting the applicable scope of the standard and related terminologies and definitions; secondly, refining the hygienic requirements for raw materials, and increasing the requirements for prohibited substances of raw materials and production water supply; thirdly, optimizing the hygienic requirements in the production process; fourthly, strengthening the hygienic requirements of products; fifthly, updating and adding related testing methods.
