SAMR (SAC) recently released three revised national standards, including GB/T 3324-2024, General technical requirements for wooden furniture, GB/T 3325-2024, General technical requirements for metal furniture, and GB/T 24821-2024, Dining tables and chairs.

GB/T 3324-2024 defines the technical requirements, inspection rules and test methods of wooden furniture. The revision mainly adds the requirements for the yellowing resistance performance of surface, the physical and chemical performance of glass parts, plastic parts and soft cladding as well as test methods, and adjusts the requirements for main dimensions, appearance and paint film impact resistance and the test methods for wood moisture content, wear resistance and mechanical performance.

GB/T 3325-2024 specifies the quality indicator requirements of metal furniture such as shape and size deviation, surface and appearance performance, physical and chemical performance, and mechanical performance and its test methods. The revision mainly focuses on the utilization of metal, rock beam, glass and plastic parts in metal furniture, adds or adjusts the physical and chemical performance indicators such as corrosion resistance, impact resistance and strength as well as the requirements and test methods of appearance and quality performance indicators including product dimension deviation and perpendicularity of adjacent sides.

GB/T 24821-2024 stipulates the technical requirements, inspection rules and test methods of dining tables and chairs. The revision mainly increases the technical requirements and test methods of rock materials, ceramic slab and other materials, and optimizes the requirements and test methods of appearance, size, strength and durability of dining tables and chairs.

The three revised standards are expected to further harmonize the technical requirements and testing methods of furniture products, which will help improve the quality of furniture products, promote the healthy development of the industry, and provide technical basis for consumers to correctly choose products and regulators to conduct regulation and examination work.
