The final of the 2nd National Standardization Knowledge Competition took place in Beijing on August 26. Deng Zhiyong, Vice Minister of SAMR and Administrator of SAC, attended the final and presented awards to the winning teams.
The competition consisted of two stages: an online preliminary round and an on-site final. A total of 246,000 standardization practitioners took part in the online quiz. They came from 30,000 government departments, social organizations, enterprises and public institutions across 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China, covering 20 sectors including manufacturing, education, scientific research, public administration, health and social work.
Contestants from enterprises reached 116,000, accounting for 47% of the total; those from higher education institutions arrived at 36,000, making up 15% of the total. Eight teams of provinces and municipalities, including Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian and Shandong entered the final, where the Anhui team secured first place.
Held every two years, the National Standardization Knowledge Competition is hosted by SAMR (SAC). It is designed to implement the National Standardization Development Outline, boost the training, learning, publicity and application of standards through competition, popularize standardization concepts among the public, and foster talent cultivation for standardization.
