Standardization Action for Improving Consumption Environment

Since 2024, SAMR (SAC) has issued 618 national standards in consumer goods. By emphasizing the leading role of standards, it has greatly improved the quality of products and services in the field of consumer goods, creating a more favorable consumption environment for high-quality development.


In terms of supporting trade-in programs and accelerating the upgrading of standards for major consumer goods, SAMR (SAC) has promoted the development and adjustment of standards for household appliances and home decoration products, and issued eight mandatory standards, such as the technical specification for household appliance safety and the technical specification for furniture structure safety, and 227 voluntary standards, such as the general technical requirements for kitchen and bathroom hardware. These standards provide the guarantee for facilitating the coordinated industrial upgrading and consumption upgrading, and promoting the trade-in of major consumer goods such as household appliances and home decorations.


In terms of enhancing people’s well-being and increasing the supply of standards on products for special groups, SAMR (SAC) has fully considered the characteristics of infants and children, the physical changes of the elderly, and the special needs of the disabled, and issued 57 national standards, such as the technical specification for the safety of children’s shoes and the general technical requirements for elderly-friendly furniture. These standards comprehensively improve the health, safety, and comfort performance of products, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of infants and children, the elderly, and the disabled.


In terms of improving the quality of consumer goods and relevant standards, SAMR (SAC) has issued 153 national standards on digital fitting, technical requirements for interactive application interfaces of smart TVs, and safety technical specifications for electric bicycles in the fields of clothing and apparel products, cosmetics and chemicals for daily use, consumer electronics products, and cultural, educational, sports and leisure products. It has actively driven the development of digital and intelligent standards for consumer goods, vigorously promoted the transformation of consumer goods standards from production-oriented type to consumption-oriented type, and greatly improved the quality and safety of consumer goods to meet the people’s higher, smarter, more environment-friendly, and more personalized consumption needs.


In terms of improving the service consumption and upgrading the level of service quality standards, SAMR (SAC) has catered to diversified service consumption needs in the society, issued 82 national standards, such as the specification for the quality of maternal and infant care services, the quality classification of tourist attractions, and the specification for return of goods without reason in after-sales service. These standards clearly stipulate the content, process, and quality evaluation for services in housekeeping, tourism, after-sales, and other fields, improving the supply capacity and quality level of services, and strongly supporting the public to buy goods and services comfortably and conveniently.
