The first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Standardization Cooperation Meeting, jointly initiated by SAMR (SAC) of China and the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) of Russia, was held on July 8 in Qingdao, Shandong province. Deng Zhiyong, Vice Minister of SAMR and Administrator of SAC, attended and addressed the meeting.
The meeting held in-depth discussions on issues such as establishing an SCO standardization cooperation mechanism, strengthening the standardization cooperation in key fields, building a standardization information platform, and carrying out standardization capacity building. The Qingdao Initiative on Strengthening Standardization Cooperation among National Standardization Bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was approved at the meeting.
The event is aimed at deepening standardization cooperation among SCO member states, promoting standards to boost regional economic prosperity and development, and facilitating the building of a closer SCO community with a shared future.
As one of the important events of the SCO’s “China Year”, the meeting was attended by more than 40 representatives from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries.
