First national standards on shipbuilding quality and ship repairing quality were offi cially published by AQSIQ and SAC on December 28, 2016. The two new GB standards will further advance the quality promotion of national shipbuilding industry, echoing the spirit of recent central economic work conference to emphasize quality and quality management.

The new standards specify requirements for quality in multiple aspects including technology, operation, management, safety and environment, comprehensively integrated with advanced international standards and latest requirements from International Maritime Organization.

This is the fi rst time for China to simultaneously release the Chinese and English versions of new national standards, GB/T 34000-2016, Shipbuilding quality and GB/T 34001-2016, Ship repairing quality. Over one hundred experts from dozens of shipbuilding institutes and enterprises contributed to the development and final release of the new standards.
