To put the Food Safety Law of China into place, 50 national standards and 4 ones with amendment on food safety were jointly published by National Health Commission (NHC) and SAMR recently.
The development and revision of these standards meet the demands of food industry development, adopt the related international laws and accepted practices while complying with laws and regulations and taking the health rights of the public into full consideration.
Thus, NHC has solicited opinions from various parties in the process of standards development and revision, and reported relevant information to the WHO in time, to meet the requirements of food safety regulation.
To ensure the safety of special groups such as infants, three standards on nutrition and special meals such as GB 10765-2021, Infant formula, are developed as an important means to ensure the safety and nutritional sufficiency of infants and children formula and regulate the scientific production of food manufacturers.
To enhance the whole-process control of food safety, NHC organized the development of four national standards focusing on the hygiene practices of central disinfection tableware and drinkware, fresh fruit and vegetable processing, pollution control of aflatoxin in food and catering services respectively.
Among these standards, GB 31654-2021, the first of its kind, is of great significance in improving the safety of catering industry, ensuring food safety and meeting the public's increasing needs for catering in China.
