SAMR (SAC) recently issued a large number of important national standards, which cover multiple areas including unmanned aircraft, furniture, and travel safety. These standards will play an essential role in promoting the industrial development of unmanned aircraft, ensuring the health and safety of consumers, and facilitating the development of public services.

In terms of unmanned aircraft, GB/T 44167-2024, General requirements for large cargo unmanned aircraft system, specifies the requirements for functions, performance, experimental verification and other aspects of large cargo unmanned aircraft system, which will improve the manufacturing quality and overall technical capability of domestic products.

The three national standards on civil large and medium-sized fixed-wing unmanned aircraft system put forward explicit requirements for their ground station, flight test risky subject implementation and flight test for autonomous capability. The standards help increase China’s influence, expand the international market, and facilitate the healthy development of the industry.

In terms of furniture, GB 28007-2024, Technical specifications for the safety of infants' and children's furniture, stipulates the general safety indicators such as materials, structure and inflaming retarding, and proposes the safety requirements for special products including children’s high chairs, bunk beds, and soft furniture, which is conducive to strengthening the quality and safety regulation of infants’ and children’s furniture.

GB 18584-2024, Limit of harmful substances of furniture, defines the requirements for the limit of harmful substances of various furniture, which provides the uniform basis for the tests and the determination of results for harmful substances of furniture, raise the quality and safety level of furniture products, and safeguard the health and safety of consumers.

In terms of travel safety, the revised mandatory national standard GB 24406-2024, Strength of student seat and their anchorages of special school bus, makes strict rules for the safety performance of school bus seats, adds the requirements for tests, and reduces the injuries and deaths of students in accidents, which safeguards the students who commute from home to school.

Three voluntary national standards including GB/T 18029.1-2024, Wheelchairs—Part 1: Determination of static stability, further improve the static stability and the technical level of strength tests of wheelchairs, stipulate the regulation process of wheelchair tests, reduce the risks of injury to wheelchair users, and ensure their involvement in social life in an equal, sufficient and convenient manner.

In terms of green development and environmental protection, GB/T 44177-2024, Green product assessment—Ready-mixed mortar for decoration, defines a comprehensive and systematic indicator system, puts forward strict requirements for products from multiple dimensions, and takes the effective connection of use function and environmental protection function. It helps improve the competitiveness of enterprise products, and regulate the market operation.

GB/T 35608-2024, Green products assessment—Thermal insulation, promotes the coordinated development of economy, society and environment through the production and usage of green thermal insulation.

National standards in other areas such as catering management, medical devices and urban management were released as well.
